Shirley Lewis

1940-2014

Shirley Lewis

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Marie Lewis, 74, of Colpitts Settlement, on October 15, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John.

Born in Colpitts Settlement on September 25, 1940, Shirley was the loving wife of the late Cecil (2005). She was an active member of the Middlesex Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served the community for many years.  She was very involved with her family and friends but her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She will be sadly missed by daughters, Diane MacDonald (Bruce) of Quispamsis and Noreen Verklan (Michael) of Spruce Grove, AB, and son Kelly (Tressa) of Lower Kingsclear; grandchildren, Ryan (Joanne), Karissa and Corey (Katelyn) MacDonald, Deni and Christopher Verklan, Tanisha, Zachery and Jillian Lewis; sisters, Jean Chapman and Brenda Lewis; brothers, Reid, Aubrey and Leonard and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by sisters Elizabeth, Lena, Pearl, Marguerite, Wanda and brothers Harvey, Clarence, Kenneth, Merle, Gerald and Floyd.

Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visitation on Friday, October 17 at 6 – 9 pm.  The funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 18 at 11:00 am with Pastor Rodney Blyth officiating.  Interment will follow at the Middlesex Cemetery.

We want to thank family, friends and the great staff at the CAM Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the help and support we received during this very difficult period of time.

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
