Ray Gillis

 

  Raymond (Ray) Everett Gillis, 65, of Salisbury passed away at home Tuesday, May 22, 2012 .

  Born in Middleton N.S. he was a son of the late Cecil and Eliza (Young) Gillis.  Ray was a truck salesman for over 45 years presently with East Coast International in Moncton.  Devoted to his church, St. John's Anglican in Salisbury, he was serving as Church Warden for the Parish of Salisbury-Havelock.  He was a board member for many years on the Salisbury Rec. Council and coached minor softball and was named coach of the year in 1999.  He achieved his Level 5 Certificate in Provincial coaching and was a past president of the Petitcodiac-Salisbury Minor Hockey Association having coached two generations of kids.  He served as an assistant coach for a year with the Moncton AAA Midget Flyers.  He was involved with the Progressive Conservative Party at the Provincial and Federal level for many years.   

  Always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone he put family above all else and will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of over 41 years Wanda; their sons  Kris (Tina) of Moncton, Ryan ( Amelie) of N.T.; daughters in law Alana O'Neil and Wendy Pitre; cherrished grandchildren Ashley, Justin, Hayden, Sydney, Reed and Amanda; brothers Edwin (Peggy) of Bridgetown N.S., Jim (Ann) of Colorado ; sisters Claire Hanvill of Yarmouth and Beryl Hannam (Earl) of Bridgetown N.S.; mother in law June Jeffrey of Salisbury; brother in law Wayne Jeffrey (Gail) of London On. and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother Erle.

  Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home , 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Friday May 25, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and from where the funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steven Brown officiating. Interment at the Bridgetown Cemetery.
