Pearl Eugenia Arsenault

September 20, 1921 - November 5, 2018

Our wonderful gem Pearl passed away peacefully on Monday November 5th, 2018 at the age of 97.  She will be remembered for her ready smile, quick laughter and mild deportment. Important to her was love and commitment to her children, which including her, encompassed 5 generations!  Significant in her life, which came to define her more than anything in later years, was her dedication to her God, Jehovah at the age of 53.  She was so happy to be actively participating in the voluntary preaching ministry of Jehovah’s Witnesses up until her final days of succumbing to her illness.  This gave her great comfort and satisfaction.

She was born September 20, 1921 in Bloomfield Ridge, NB.   She was a hardworking farm girl and liked living in the country where she could enjoy cross country skiing, fishing, swimming and her farm horses, which became her favorite animal in life.  In later life, cooking, needle point and especially reading became her joy.  Her children remember scrambling for her homemade bread, the chicken sandwiches at the beach and her potato scallop.  We remember the embroidered tablecloths and doilies.  While she enjoyed reading many books, her favorite became the Bible which she read every day.

She raised her children in Saint John, NB and had a special relationship with all of them.  In her early seventies she moved to Salisbury, NB, to live with family and made many new friends because of her endearing ways.  Pearl continued to enjoy the many family get-togethers and vacations with her children.  She especially savored the laughter of all the generations together.  She loved being in the Village of Salisbury and considered it her home as well.

Pearl will be missed by her 6 surviving children; Judith (George), Jimmy, Gary (Joanne), Faye (Bill), Lorna (Tom) and Philip (Cathy), as well as 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Her "special pal" Shirley of more than 30 years will miss her too.

She was predeceased by 3 children; James, Kenneth and David, and by 3 grandchildren; Kimberley, Thomas and Jamie, as well as by a beloved daughter-in-law Cathy.

The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care given by the Moncton City Hospital Palliative Care Unit and to the nurses that made our mother feel special during previous stays in the hospital, particularly the nurses of 4100.  Also, special thanks to Doreen, her homecare worker and friend.  Finally, our family is overwhelmed by the love and support from our friends.  Our mother truly loved every one of you!

You are welcome to join us for Pearl’s Memorial Service on Sunday November 11, 2018 at 2:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 2708 Fredericton Rd, Salisbury, NB. Arrangements are in care of Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800).
