Norman Rogers Gaskin

Norman Gaskin, 93, of Jordan LifeCare Centre and formerly of Riverview and Upper Coverdale, went Home to be with his Lord and Saviour on June 26, 2018.

Norman was born in Gunningsville, N.B. (now Riverview) and lived in the area all his life.  He was the youngest son of the late Harry and Bessie (Rogers) Gaskin.

He worked as a Carman in the CNR shops for forty years, retiring in 1982. He had a great sense of humour and was always up for sharing a prank or joke with his co-workers. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for the Salem and Hillsborough Railroad, birdwatching, and working in his flower and vegetable gardens.

He was predeceased by a brother, Albert, and his wife, Barbara (2015).

He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Ruth Sharon Wheatley, and Ruth's husband George E. Wheatley of Upper Coverdale. He will also be missed by special friends Stephen and Cheryl Epley of Red Bluff, California.

Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) from where a private family gathering will be held. In keeping with Norman's wishes, there will be no public funeral service or visitation. Interment will take place at the Wesleyan Union Cemetery, Coverdale, N.B.

If so desired, donations in Norman's memory can be made to Friends of the Moncton Hospital, or Friends of the Jordan LifeCare Centre.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Jordan LifeCare Centre for the excellent care provided and kindness shown during the time he spent there. As well, we wish to thank Sue Weir and the other gals at Senior Companion for their good service and thoughtfulness shown when he resided at home.
