John Wilson

1928-2017

John Wilson

John Ainsley Wilson 89, of Wheaton Settlement passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital.

Born in Maine, he was the son of the late Robert and Gladys (Steeves) Wilson.  Over John's lifetime he worked at various jobs including school bus driver, trucking, equipment operator, farming and had his own snowmobile business. He was known as the tall guy who always had a story and a laugh. Family was everything to him and he loved people especially children. He had nicknames for most of us, even the great grand kids. He always amazed his family and friends with what he could do with a few pieces of lumber or metal, the machinery or parts he could build.  John was always lending a helping hand and he enjoyed spending time at the Wilson homestead in Meadow.

John was the beloved father of Layton (Judy), Brenda, Russell (Judy), Melville (Jocelyn), Sherry, Neil (Shirley), Marshall (Susan), Valerie (Kirk) and Merilee (Mike); twenty-four grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; brother-in-law Floyd Hall; special cousin Noni and his canine companion "Bear".  He was predeceased by his wife Winona and brother Weldon (Terry).

Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372-4800) visiting will be Monday, March 13 from 5 to 8 pm. The funeral will be held at First North River Baptist Church Tuesday, March 14 at 2 pm with Rev. Wayne Hagerman officiating.  Interment at First North River Cemetery at a later date.

If desired, memorials to the First North River Baptist Church, Friends of the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
