Florence Shaffer

  Florence Viola Shaffer, 93, of the Jordan Lifecare Centre and formerly of Berry Mills passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at her residence.

  Born in Birch Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Foster and Nellie (Thorpe) Sherwood.  She was a homemaker, a member of the Berry Mills Baptist Church and in later years the Elgin Baptist Church.  Florence enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved caring for her family.

  She is survived and missed by her son Stuart (Varee) of Petitcodiac; granddaughters Cindy Martin (Rick), Tammy Shaffer, Karey Mitton (Jason), Valerie Woods (Darryl) and Wendy Shaffer (Jay); grandsons Jeffery, Robert and Kyle Shaffer; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; sister Winnifred Steeves (Leverett) and several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her husband Floyd (2005); daughter-in-law Lois (Bannister) Shaffer and sisters Annie Briggs, Elsie Prosser and Eileen Milton.

  Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Saturday, April 2 from 7 - 9 pm.  The funeral will be held Sunday, April 3, 3 pm at the Petitcodiac Baptist Church with Rev. David Woodworth officiating.  Interment at New Elgin Cemetery at a later date.
