Helen McFarlane
Helen Elisabeth McFarlane, 88, of Sussex and formerly Havelock, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Toronto, she was the daughter of the late George and Euphemia Curwood (Seaton), Helen graduated from the Anglican Women’s College where she met her husband of 59 years, the Rev. Lloyd McFarlane. As best friends and partners they raised three children. Active as a lay reader, ACW member, choir director and Girl Guide leader, Helen played a key role alongside Lloyd in the parishes of Kinmount, Mono Mills, Fort Frances (Ont) and Campbellton (N.B.). Helen and Lloyd retired to Havelock where they remained active in the church community and the Butternut Ridge Seniors’ Club. They moved to the Anglican Church Homes in Sussex in 2005.
Through her faith, compassion, humour, and curiousity about life Helen touched the lives of her many friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Helen is survived by her beloved husband Lloyd, children Paul (Sally) of Chicago, Gillian McNaught (Peter) of Belleville, Judith Watling (Kerry) of Ottawa, grandsons D.J., Ryan, Jeremy and David, great grandson Dillon, and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by infant daughter Mary Elizabeth, brothers Bill, Jim and Harry and an infant sister.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex on Tues. June 24 from 7:00-9:00pm. The funeral will be held at Trinity Church on Wed. June 25 at 11:00 am. with internment at Trinity Cemetery, Sussex Corner. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Primate’s World Relief Fund, the Trinity Church Entrance Way Project or the Cannon. Rev. Paul Jeffries Africa Project.
