Marilyn Bleakney
1938-2026
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Marilyn Christina Clara Bleakney, of Petitcodiac on July 14th, 2026, at Maple Ridge Nursing Home in Oromocto. Born in Wadena, Saskatchewan, she was a daughter to the late Melvin & Clara Peterson. Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Dana Bleakney.
Marilyn was married in Sudbury, Ontario in 1954, where she started her family. She relocated with her husband and family to New Brunswick, where she eventually settled in Petitcodiac, surrounding herself with many family and friends. Together, Marilyn and Dana created Pleasant Valley Trailer Park where they entertained and made memories. Marilyn loved trailering with her husband and friends, traveling the world, and above all playing cards. She was an amazing cook, who enjoyed entertaining at social gatherings where all were welcome. She could chat for hours, remembering details and stories about everyone she encountered.
Marilyn worked for 30 years with the Federal Government in the computer room as a Librarian. After retiring, she dedicated her time to family and friends, making special memories at Camden Park, in Moncton, and with family in Fredericton.
Marilyn is survived and sadly missed by her daughter, Daphne Cowe (Jim); her granddaughter, Cathy (Scott); her great granddaughter, Freya; her brother, Clayton (Mary) as well as her beloved niece, Laurie and family. She will also be missed by many close friends who she cherished.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800 from where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Interment will take place in the First North River Cemetery for immediate family.
If desired, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
