J. Richard (Rick) Hyslop

1960-2026

J. Richard (Rick) Hyslop

Dear Richard, it is with a broken heart that I write this, you leave behind your Mother, Joan (MacDonald) Hyslop (Quispamsis), your Irish twin sister, Kimberly Reinbolt (Ft. St. John BC) and baby sister, Lisa Dean (Robert Spence) in Norton.  Your Fur Babies will be well looked after, we know how much you loved them and we have Rachel, his neighbour and care giver to thank for that. He leaves behind 6 nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Joshua, Francesa, Mitchell, Delaney and Cole. 3 great nieces and nephews, Scotia, Sawyer and Cash.  I need to mention Aunty Carmel Fraser, (FT, St, John BC) she will always be your champion.  He was predeceased by our Dad, Douglas E. Hyslop.

Richard lived a life of helping everyone, as a paramedic in Salisbury, rescue dogs, volunteer fireman in Petitcodiac and his true life's passion, Needle Dogs in Moncton.

He started it alone and before he knew it he had many volunteers and people that thanked him every day because he is the one they called when needles were found in the parks and playgrounds, be it Moncton, Salisbury, Riverview or anywhere close by. He truly wanted the areas to be safe for kids to play without being jabbed by a needle and parents to breathe easier knowing their children were safe. He was the one out in -20 weather checking for needles on the playgrounds and in the doorways of the schools. So many people have reached out to tell us what you had done for them and how grateful they were for you. His wish was for people to be aware, be educated! If you saw the hearse coming with the dogs and the buckets of used needles, you knew it was Richard.

After Richard moved to St. Stephen to get away from the politics, he tried to organize the people down there for needle pick up, spent time with the Veterans and animal rescue. Richard was a "giver", he would literally give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800. As per Richard's request, there will not be any services at this time. He did not want anyone crying over him. (We will anyway).

If you would like to do something in memory of Richard, please donate to the Veterans, SPCA or the local Foodbank, as those were his wishes.

WE love you and will miss you, Mom, Kim and Lisa.
