Randall Caldwell

1964-2026

Randall Caldwell

It is with great sadness the family of Randall Caldwell, 62, announce his passing on Saturday, June 27th, 2026 at the Moncton Hospital.

Randy was born in St Stephen to the late Bennie Caldwell and Vera (Bartlett) Caldwell. The fourth of five children, Randy grew up in rural Tower Hill where he learned to appreciate hard work, grow a beautiful garden and every summer rake blueberries under a hot August sun off the family blueberry grounds. As an adult he intentionally stayed away from all things blueberry.

As a teenager with his brothers and friends he learned the art of ridge running over the hills and dales of Charlotte County and as a graduate of St Stephen High’s Class of 1982 made friendships that he valued all his life.

Other than three years in Alberta, which he thoroughly enjoyed, Randy lived and worked in the St Stephen area until the early 90’s when he moved to McAdam to work in the drywall plant. He rapidly became a valued and versatile employee learning every job on the line. Later he became parts manager setting up a parts department that became the flagship of the entire international company. He also worked hard for his fellow employees serving as Union President for several years.

At heart though, Randy was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, bird hunting and wheeler runs but his passion, one he shared with his mother, was fishing. Whether it was dropping a line in a waterhole he happened upon in the woods or fly fishing at a fly-in resort in Labrador, he loved it all. Sitting in a boat, in the middle of a lake, casting a line was where he found joy.

Randy shared many of these outdoor experiences with his loving wife of 26 years, Julie (Smith) Caldwell, who never really understood fishing, but will always cherish the time she spent with him in these pursuits. Together over the years they shared their home with their beloved beagles and later one coonhound, all rescues from various situations. Randy’s generosity of spirit was never clearer than when it came to his animals. They taught him patience and he taught them what it meant to be home.

Along with his wife, he will be sadly missed by his brothers, Mike (Mary), Eric, Duane (Renee) and his sister, Christine (Eric). Randy adored his nieces and nephews and claimed the role of favorite uncle to Tracy, Lindsay, Stephanie, Lauren, Regan, Robin, Ben, Jordan and Braden. He did not get to know the nieces and nephews on the other side of the family, but he was always interested in how Rebecca, Curtis, Alex, Austin, Adam and Ellery were doing and cared about their well being.

Besides his parents, Randy was predeceased by his sister in-law, Jocelyn Robichaud.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800 from where visitation will be held on Monday, July 6th from 1:00pm until time of the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm with reception to follow.
