John Shaw

1945-2026

John Shaw

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Richard Shaw, who passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at The Jordan LifeCare Centre.

Born on October 5, 1945, in England, John immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1974. He later settled in New Brunswick, where he made his home and built a life filled with family, hobbies, and friendships.

John is lovingly remembered and missed by his devoted wife of 57 years Anne Shaw, son Lee Shaw of Ontario, Nephew Kevin Entwistle (Kevin) of Massachusetts, Goddaughter Melissa and her children Maddy and Gabe of Ontario, Goddaughter Meagen (Will) and their child William of Ontario. John and Anne were blessed with many special children in their life, Kyle, Zack, Kaylah, Maddy and Logan. He will also be deeply missed by many other family members and friends whose lives he touched over the years.

John was predeceased by his nephew Ian and sister in law Lynne both of England.

A man of patience and craftsmanship, John had a passion for tying fishing flies in his earlier years and could often be found in his garage working on woodworking projects. He took great pride in creating things with his own hands and cherished the time spent with his dogs, who held a special place in his heart, especially his beloved dog Tess, whose companionship brought him endless joy throughout his life. In fact, those who knew John well would likely agree that he never made much effort to hide that he preferred the company of dogs to most people.

John was known for his quiet nature, his sense of humor, and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

John’s family will remember him for his sharp wit, dry sense of humor, and trademark sarcasm that could make people laugh even when they weren’t sure if they should. Though he will be greatly missed, his stories, laughter, and the things he created with his own hands will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of The Jordan LifeCare Centre for their care and compassion.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800, from where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 3 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bill Parks officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date.
