Celina Primmer
1932-2025
We sadly announce the passing of Celina (Maurice) Primmer at
the Jordan Lifecare Centre in Salisbury, NB at 93 years of age.
Celina was born in the small coastal town of St
Augustin, QC, to Ethel Bursey and William Maurice. From an early age
she just loved working along with her dad. It was there that she also
happened to catch the eye of a young man from Fogo, George Primmer,
who was working with an exploration company. They soon married,
becoming Tootsie to Pop and they raised nine children together:
Lorraine (Jack), Peter (Joy), Karen (James), Russell (Deborah) Brian
(Bernadette), Rosemary (Paul), Trenda (Joe), James (Martine) and David
(Roberta). Her children, 13 grand children, and 12 great
grand children were her absolute joy through the years. She will be
missed dearly by every single one. A hard worker all her life
such that, even though the last few years were taken by dementia, she
would be motioning with her hands, cleaning, folding clothes, or even
reliving moments she worked with her dad on the fishing
stage.
She had such a wonderful
sense of humour and the quickest wit. It certainly kept her kids
humble. Her love for people was easily seen, and our home was always
full of visiting folks and laughter. It was so welcoming and made for
a very happy childhood. A loving home, loving parents. We all
were so fortunate.
Our mom was a woman of
faith and devotion. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses she spent
countless hours helping others find answers to today’s
problems and sharing the hope of a beautiful future. To help ease her
hard days of dementia, the remarkable staff at Jordan Lifecare kept
soothing melodies playing for her and videos of a peaceful earth. To
the Jordan and all who work there, we are so, so grateful for your
kindnesses, excellent care and consideration for the person she was at
heart.
We must acknowledge Russell and
Debbie's loving care and the rock they became to Mom and Jim on their
move to Salisbury, NB. The family also sincerely appreciates our
sisters-in-law who were as good to Mom as her own family. Bernadette
however seemed to hold a special place in Mom’s heart.
Indeed, all of them she cherished, but Bernadette could elicit that
little smile even on the hardest of days. Eventually she became the
nice lady that faithfully did her nails and hair. So cute.
Those of us who could not be readily present in the last
difficult years want to acknowledge James, Trenda, Rosemary and Brian.
How much it meant to us that every day, every single day, one of you
were there with Mom, loving her so much and caring for her even when
she no longer knew who we were, though she knew we were people she
loved.
The promise of Revelation 21:4
sustained our dear Mom for many years, especially after the death of
George (Pop) in 1997, and this hope we now faithfully hold on
to… "He will wipe out every
tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither mourning nor
outcry nor pain be any more. The former things have passed
away."
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (506-372-4800). A Funeral service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in the Fernhill Cemetery.
If desired, donations made to the Jordan LifeCare Centre would be appreciated by the family. Condolences can be made at www.keirsteads.ca
