Barbara Geldart
1940-2025
Barbara Emma Geldart, 85, passed away at Parkland Estates Nursing Home in Saint John on September 15th, 2025 . Born in Elgin, she was the youngest child of Paul & Annie (Killam) Graves. Barbara was predeceased by her Husband, Loris Geldart in 2021 and her siblings: Dean Graves, Shirley Stiles and Margaret Purdy. She was the last remaining member of her family.
Barb graduated from Elgin Rural High school in 1958 and the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. She nursed across Canada as she followed her Military husband to his various postings. When Loris retired they established a home on the corner of the family farm on Hillside Road where they lived until Loris’ passing. They kept busy with Church, community activities, friends and music. They had no children but were very special "Aunt and Uncle" and friends to many.
Barb continued her nursing career at the Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sussex for several years. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed helping Loris in the Maple Sugar Bush. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an amazing artist and in particular her China Painting. She created many beautiful China pieces which family and friends continue to cherish.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home from where the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 18th at 1:30pm. A time of visiting and reception will follow the service. Interment will take place at the All Saints Cemetery in Churches Corner, Elgin following the reception.
