Marita Jackson

The family of Marita Jackson regrets to announce her recent passing on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Jordan LifeCare Centre.

Marita was born April 7, 1946 to Hector and Kathleen (Lucas) Lafferty of Chipman, NB, the third of eight brothers and sisters. Marita worked in banking, the Unemployment Insurance Commission and as a teacher assistant with the former School District 4. Marita volunteered with the Pastoral Care Committee at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church in Salisbury. She was very dedicated to the sick and dying. In 1976, Marita married Albert Edward Jackson of Petitcodiac where they raised their two sons, David Joseph and Patrick Nelson.

She is survived by her husband Albert; sons David of Edmonton, AB and Patrick of Spruce Grove, AB; grandchildren Samantha, Monica, Erica, Gabriella, Joshua, Zachariah, and Luka; sisters Margaret Ann Lafferty, Ellen Brown (Stephen), Catherine Parsons (Robert), Frances Sarchfield (Calvin); brothers Leo Lafferty (Cathy), Peter Lafferty (Pam), Mark Lafferty (Patricia) and several nieces and nephews.

Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home (506-372-4800) visiting will be Tuesday, March 18 from 2 – 4 pm with vigil at 3:30 pm, and 6 – 8 pm. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 19, 11 am at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery with date and time to be confirmed.
