Joan Tait

Joan Marguerite Tait (nee Black) of Salisbury passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on January 4, 2025.

She is survived by her loving children Kandi Reeder (Stephen) of Moncton, Karee Tait-Layden (Robert) of Salisbury, and Ron Tait (Judith) of Whitby, Ontario. She is also survived by sister Trena Jones (Vernon) of Red Deer Alberta, brother in law Harrison Tait (Ann) of Riverview, sisters in law Erma Black and Alta Tait, and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was born to Ira and Flora (Thorne) Black on November 5, 1936 and grew up in Havelock. She graduated from Salisbury High School. In 1955 she married Ron Tait, to whom she was happily married for 56 years, until his death in 2011. Early in her career she worked in the cash office at Eatons and then spent a long career with CIBC. Joan was a long time member of the Salisbury Baptist Church, a life member of the Salisbury WMS and as a woman of faith she loved her church family and friends. She was generous with her volunteer time over the years, serving as a CGIT leader, delivering meals on wheels for 19 years, teaching Geri Fitness, and serving on the Salisbury Recreation Council. She loved sports, playing basketball, softball and badminton in her younger years. Joan was an avid golfer, enjoying the many friends she made at the Petitcodiac Golf Club and playing for many years until she was no longer able. Joan enjoyed the outdoors, nature, animals and traveling. She had a great spirit enjoyed everyday to the fullest.

Besides her parents Joan was predeceased by her husband Ron in 2011, brothers Jim Lawrence, Gerry Lawrence, Leighton Black, Chester Black, Donald Black, Gary Black and Forrester Black, as well by sisters Hazel Crawford and Gloria Steeves.

The family will receive family and friends  at the Salisbury Funeral Home (506 372 4800) with visitation Thursday Jan 9 from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held  from the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11 am  with Pastor Laura Sherwood officiating.  Interment at a later date at Pine Hill Cemetery.

If so desired, donations can be made to Operation Smile, Hope For Wildlife , Pine Hill Cemetery or the charity of the donor's choice.
