Barbara Byers

1930-2024

Barbara Byers

Barbara Mae (Garrett) Byers, wife of Ronald Francis Byers of Moncton (previously Berry Mills) died peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2024 at the age of 94, surrounded by loving family. Heaven has once again opened its doors to a pillar of kindness, love and unwavering faith.

Barb’s legacy is her undeniable love of family; son, Ronald (Gary) Byers (Peggy McPherson); daughter, Ann Martin-Magee (Ralph); brother, Ken Garrett (Diane); grandchildren: Geoffrey Martin; Kara-Lea Hansen (Jonathan), Patrick Byers (Shani Gregoire) and Jessica Cormier(Brad); great grandchildren: Elliott and Nora Martin; Ryker Hansen; Emelyn and Luca Byers; and Adalynn and Briella Cormier.

Barb was predeceased by her husband; sons, Ross Wayne Byers and Randy Carl Byers; and her parents Edward & Madeline (Calver) Garrett.

She dedicated herself to serving with Christian Council for Reconciliation (a ministry to prisoners); Support to Single Mothers; life skills coach and Project Manager of New Options for Women (nontraditional training) and instructor of Agency literacy program.

On top of all this, she loved her hobby farm and could dress twenty 30 lb turkeys on a Saturday and look like a million bucks at church on Sunday!  In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, miniatures, peanut brittle and butter tart making (which we will dearly miss), board game playing, faithful daily devotions and always ready to welcome anyone for cup of tea. Her love was boundless, her wisdom profound and her faith a guiding light to those around her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800, from where visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. A Funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, at 11:00am at the New Hope Community Church, Steeves Mountain. Interment will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
