Ross Charles Bleakney, 93 of Salisbury, son of the late Murray and Clara (Lockhart) Bleakney passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

He is survived by his caring sons Dennis (Pam), Moncton and David (Chriss) of Ottawa, three beloved grandchildren Jennifer (Ian), Waterloo, Ontario, Jonathan (Riverview) and Emma (Ottawa), great grandchildren Auden and Isla of Waterloo, former daughters-in-law Brenda (Moncton) and Catherine (Ottawa), sister-in-law Rena and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ross is predeceased by his wife Helen (Price) and brother Carl.

Ross retired from Chrysler Canada as Operations Manager of Moncton Parts Depot on December 31, 1988 with 32 years of service. He was a former member, past president, past secretary and past zone chairman of the Salisbury Lions Club and a charter member of the Petitcodiac Golf Club. Ross was a long-time member of the Salisbury Baptist Church where he served on many boards. He also served on Salisbury School Board and the Salisbury Village Council as a councillor for two years and mayor for nine years.

Ross played softball for many years in Moncton and District Softball League with Salisbury Flyers and also played hockey for many years. In recent years he has been an avid Toronto Maple Leaf and St. Louis Cardinals fan. 

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (506-372-4800) on Tuesday, November 5, from 2 pm to 4 pm. The service will be held in the chapel Wednesday, November 6 at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Terry Atkinson officiating. A reception will follow in the parlour. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
