Mary Burgess
1947-2024
Mary Louise Burgess, 77 of Petitcodiac passed away Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dora (Elliott) Lockhart. Mary had a few jobs over the years. She retired from Canada Post as a delivery assistant. She also was employed at different places as a geriatric assistant. Her biggest and hardest job was being a mother to her five daughters, whom she loved dearly and was very proud of. She was also very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and of course, being a wife and homemaker. Mary was fortunate to travel many parts of the States and Canada while Lee was employed as a truck driver. Mary loved being outdoors and has had many large gardens over the years. Her children enjoyed many of her homemade pickles as well as other preserves. She also loved to bake, and you could always find homemade cookies in the cupboard. Mary was fond of all her pets, Missy, her cat being her most recent. Her daughters can remember her endless games of cards with her lifelong friends, Carolyn and Ellie. She also spent a lot of time with her lifelong friend, Liz.
She is survived and sadly missed by her daughters Tina, Beverley (Pat), Sherrie, Kim, Kerry (Mark); nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; brothers John Lockhart (Susan), Holly Lockhart (Pat), William Douglass and Gary Douglass; sisters Ann Wood (Bruce) and Nancy Gill (Danny); mother-in-law Glenna Burgess; sisters-in-law Vera Crossman (Jon) and Gail Crossman (Gene) and several nieces and nephews. Beside her parents Mary was predeceased by her husband Lee Burgess; granddaughter, Lacey-Jay Taylor; infant great granddaughter Laura Hicks; brothers, Charles Lockhart, Larry Lockhart and his wife, Ann; father-in-law Francis Burgess.
Mary will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.
As per Mary's wishes a private family graveside service was held at Maplewood Cemetery. Family and Friends are invited to a Celebration of Mary's Life on Wednesday, October 16 from 4 - 7 pm at the Motor Sports Hall of Fame, 5 Hooper Lane, Petitcodiac.
Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (506-372-4800).
