Hughie Taylor
1950-2024
It is with profound grief that the family of Hughie Taylor, of Wheaton Settlement, N.B., announces his passing at the Moncton Hospital on October 3, 2024. Born in Moncton, N.B., Hughie was a beloved son of the late Fred and Marjorie (Lewis) Taylor.
Hughie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his devoted wife of 40 years, Anna; his sons Stacey (Marsha) of Petitcodiac, Scott of Wheaton Settlement, and Jeremy of Salisbury; and his cherished siblings, Martin (Cheryl) of Salisbury, John (Cindy) of Salisbury, Allan (Cathy) of Salisbury, Joanne of Salisbury, and Susan (Danny) of Salisbury. He leaves behind treasured grandchildren: Shelby (Kevin) of Petitcodiac, Ryley of Moncton, Taylor of Petitcodiac, and Lauryn of Moncton; as well as great-grandchildren: Jackson, Amilia, and Alexa. He will be fondly remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and the many dear friends and co-workers who were such a valued part of his 74 years.
An incredibly talented craftsman, Hughie built exquisite pieces of wooden furniture, which now sit in homes across the country, a testament to his skill and artistry. He found joy in reading, working in his garage, and spending time with his closest friends. Whether sharpening band saw blades, watching online auctions, or enjoying farming shows on YouTube, Hughie embraced a life filled with simple pleasures. Above all, he adored his family—his wife Anna, whom he playfully teased, and his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
Hughie’s retirement years were spent doing what he loved: making axe handles, collecting jackknives, and talking tractors. His constructive advice was always appreciated, and he remained content in his shop, immersed in the hobbies and conversations that made his days full.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (506-372-4800), where a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
