Donald Bustin

1940-2024

Donald Bustin

Donald Allen Bustin began life on a farm in Portage Vale, NB, and finished as a man who left an impact on the lives of many people. His unwavering love for God and others was evident in his relationships with his family, his work as a Chartered Professional Accountant, and his service to God.

On September 9, 2024, Don passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 2, 1940 to the late Harry and Irene (Horsman) Bustin, he started down the path which culminated in him becoming a Chartered Accountant in 1964. Over the next 54 years, he made a difference in the lives of many. He had a heart for people and their welfare, not just with their finances. Don served them with care and integrity. He appreciated not only his clients but his employees as well. Don’s faith in Christ was the source that guided and strengthened him each day. He had a passion for ministry in overseas countries. He and Peggy had wonderful experiences doing short term ministry in Kenya and Uganda, which blessed them tremendously. Don’s fun sense of humour made for exciting times at home, or really, wherever he went. His children and grandchildren remember well his love of ice cream and sweet treats. Don was never happier than when he was in Portage Vale with his tractor, his gardens, his honey bees and his many animal projects.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy (MacArthur) Bustin; his three sons Graham (Becky) Bustin, Dennis (Diane) Bustin, Darrell (Laura Lee) Bustin, and daughter Joy (Mark) Coffin; grandchildren Cody (Victoria) Bustin, Skylar Bustin, Paige (Robert) Curtsinger, Jay (Alyssa) Bustin, Abigail Bustin, Bronwyn Bustin, Caleb (Aynsley) Bustin, Holly Coffin and Max Coffin. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Noah, Elizabeth, Charles and Catherine Bustin; Chloe, Robert and Riley Curtsinger; and Emma Bustin. He is also survived by his sister Louise (Rev. Dean) MacDonald, as well as special nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents and his sister Lois Bustin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Salisbury Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life for Don will be held at Highfield Baptist Church, Moncton, on September 14, 2024 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM), Crandall University, and The Gideons (ShareWord Global). Thank you to Dr. Jason MacDonald and Dr. John McCrea and the staff of 3600 and 5200 at the Moncton Hospital for the compassionate care given to Don.
