Merna Hoar

  Merna Ethel Hoar, 91, of the Spencer Memorial Home and formerly Salisbury passed away peacefully Sunday August 11, 2024. Born in Salisbury she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Edith (Rogers) Paynter and wife of the late Ronald Hoar.

  Merna was a member of Salisbury United Church and former member of the Fidelity Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and the Salisbury Golden Age Club. She enjoyed gardening, bridge and crafts.

  Survived by her daughter Ardeth Douthwright (late Craig); son Richard (Madge); grandchildren Nathan Douthwright (Stephanie), Susan Douthwright, David Hoar (Amy) and great grandson Griffin. Survived also by a brother Bruce Paynter (Eleanor); sister Linda Nelson (late Robert); sister-in-law Susan Paynter and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband Ronald; son David and brother George.

  To honour family wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral. A private family graveside service will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
