Gary McLaughlin

1962-2024

Gary McLaughlin

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Gary Francis McLaughlin, who passed away in the early morning hours of August 3rd, 2024 surrounded by his family at the Moncton City Hospital. Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, he is the son of the late Henry and Ella (Sanford) McLaughlin. He was the husband of the late Tracey (Jones) McLaughlin, who passed away in the winter of 2023.

For the majority of his life, Gary worked labor jobs, from pipelines to mining, farming and constructing buildings; he was always happy to do the manual labor jobs that many people would shy away from. He spent a lot of time working underground in the potash mines of Cassidy Lake and Penobsquis New Brunswick, as well as Rocanville Saskatchewan. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found cutting wood, playing in the yard with his tractor, or at the family farm in Poodiac. Gary was what you would consider a jack of all trades, master of none.

Gary is survived and sadly missed by his son, Izaak and his wife Amy (McDade) McLaughlin of Havelock, his brothers David McLaughlin of Plumweseep, William McLaughlin, of Poodiac, Fred McLaughlin (Jane), of Sussex Corner, and his sisters Gloria Payne, of Sussex, and Marie  McLaughlin (Doug) of Waterford, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gary is predeceased by his brother, Philip McLaughlin, his sisters Theresa Middleton and Eileen McLaughlin, brothers-in-law Frank Middleton and Frank Payne, sister-in-law Jessie McLaughlin his nephew James Middleton as well as his father-in-law, Gary Jones.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Trauma, 3400 and Coronary Care Units of the Moncton Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Salisbury Funeral home (506-372-4800), A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at 11:00am with Pastor Jarvis Lepper officiating at the Salisbury Funeral Home. A private interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

If so desired, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital.
