Clara McCormick

  Clara Marilyn McCormick, 80, of Colpitts Settlement passed away April 24, 2024 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Cape Breton she was a daughter of the late Private Cecil (Killed in WW 2) and Ruth (Mason) Douthwright and was raised and adopted by Alfred and Clara Douthwright of Nixon. Clara retired from the Jordan Memorial Home and was an active member of Five Points Baptist Church and a former volunteer with Saint John Ambulance, Girl Guides of Canada and a Brownie Leader.

   Survived by her beloved husband of 62 years Reid, son Mark, daughter Nancy McCormick Alward (Joey), granddaughter Jamie-Lee Cochrane (Calvin), great grandsons Landon, Dakota and Jaxen and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, brothers Percy, Allan, Irvine and Eric Douthwright, sisters Lillian Russwurm, Nellie Cyr and Emily Bezanson.

    The family will receive relatives and friends at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Rte 106 on Sunday April 28 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held from the Funeral Home Chapel Monday April 29 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Parks officiating. Interment at the Colpitts Community Cemetery.

   If desired memorials to Five Points Baptist Church or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

   The family wishes to thank Doctors and Nurses at the Hospital for the compassionate care Clara received.
