Carole Ann Mehner
1946-2024
It is with sadness the family announces the passing of, Carole Ann Mehner (nee Lee) on Jan 13,2024 at the Jordan LifeCare Centre. Born on June 10, 1946, Chelsea, QC, she was a daughter to the late, William and Mildred (nee Grizzly) Lee.
Besides her parents, Carole was predeceased by brother, Alfred Lee (Oct 21, 2023)
Carole is survived by brothers: Robert Lee (Wakefield, QC) and Richard Lee (Ottawa); many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; Udo A. Mehner, (Salisbury, NB) husband of 56, years, and her children: Christopher Mehner of Carlingford NB and Andrea Elizabeth (Beth) Mehner of Halifax, NS.
Carole graduated High School in Hull, QC, and went on to Carleton University, Ottawa, studying biology, chemistry, and continued to Ottawa Teachers College. She then followed Udo to Sackville, NB, teaching at Sackville Middle school while helping restore a century-old house in Pte de Bute, NB. She substitute taught at Sackville and Amherst schools. She had her
Family in 1975, 1978 and in 1985, moved to Salisbury,NB, where she continued perfecting her interests of gardening, sewing, home canning and making award-winning preserves. She had a passion for learning and reading which she passed on to her children, particularly Beth, who obtained a BA degree from Mt. Saint Vincent University. She worked in many of Moncton's retailers of the time, including 10 years in the Shoe Department of Sears, from which she retired in 2010. She also had a deep interest in Geneology of the Lee family, and the Mehner family, doing extensive research. She was an enthusiastic member of the Greater Moncton Quilt Guild, produced quilts for donation to the needy, baby quilts for her nieces and nephews, and large quilts for other members of her family. She continued gardening, donating excess produce to the local food bank. Carole was never one to sit idle, even knitting mittens for her daughter's team while watching their Ringette game. She was diagnosed with dementia in about 2018, which gradually stole her facilities.
The family wishes to thank her Home Care Worker, Tracy Petukhov for her patient and competent care of Carole while she was still at home and the staff of the Jordan LifeCare Centre, for their excellent, compassionate care of Carole.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800. All arrangements at this time are being held privately.
