Robert McCully

1938-2024

Robert McCully

Robert Douglas McCully, of Petitcodiac, NB, age 85, died on Thursday, January 11th at the George Dumont Hospital.

Born on March 20th 1938 in Manhurst New Brunswick Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and to most of the village Uncle Bobby, he was a lifelong member and was President proudly serving for 11 years at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #41 and District Commander of Westmorland Albert District for two and a half terms.

After serving in the Armed Forces for 22 years Bobby moved to Petitcodiac, after realizing that retirement wasn’t for him he quickly became well known in our community and was a jack of all trades over the years, from picking up bottles, being the dog constable, janitorial services, and mowing lawns in which brought him to opening his own lawn mowing business in 1980 which is still successfully owned and operated by his son Danny. Now Bobby was never one who was good at sitting still so he then opened the Petty Redemption Center in 2007. Bobby was always up for a beer and a game of poker, he was able to make so many memories over the years. Some of his favourite memories involved a Molson Canadian in his hand, a dog by his side, country music, and being outside. He loved fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and long drives with his wife.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 16 years, Charlene McCully; his son, Marshall McCully (Lorna); his daughter, Christine Anderson (Mark); his twin sons, Dennis McCully (Lori) and Danny McCully (Sherry); his step son, Jamie Kirby; step daughters, Angela Rochford (Cory) and Karen Kirby (Steve).

Bobby was fortunate to have 13 grandchildren: Marsha Mae, Joshua, Bradley, Matthew, Brittney, Shontelle, Jessica, Jozie, Zachary, Caleb, Brock, Mallory and Cailyn; his 7 Great Grandchildren, Avery Mae, Drew, Eli, Dallas, Kaylee, Paolo and Everly as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Venetta (Mattinson) McCully; his mother of his children and wife of 39 years, Marie-Claire McCully and brother, Leonard (Shirley) McCully.
