Marilyn Mitton

1944-2024

Marilyn Mitton

With heavy hearts, her family announces the passing of Marilyn (Steeves) Mitton, 79, of Elgin. As she had always wanted, she passed quietly at home surrounded by the love of her family.  Born on Midland Road in Elgin, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Evans and Dorothy (DeMille) Steeves.

Marilyn loved children, and enjoyed teaching. She trained at teachers’ college in Fredericton, and spent many years as an occasional elementary teacher and Sunday school teacher. She was a kind and compassionate person, and found joy in serving others. She enjoyed gardening, and those who knew her will miss her beautiful flowers.

Marilyn was a beloved member of her family. She will be sadly missed by her husband, David Mitton; her children, James (Lisa), Kim (Tom), and Lee (Nancy); her grandchildren, Roland (Coralee), Zachary (Rhonda), Isaac (girlfriend, Emily) and Emma; her great-grandchildren, Micah, Owen, Gracelyn, Dawson and Theodore; her siblings, Idella, Louise (Harold), and Joseph (Jocelyn); as well as several very special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Illes (late spouse of Idella).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (506-372-4800) and a visitation will be held there on Friday, January 12th, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2024 at 11:00 am, at First Elgin Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed using the following link: youtube.com@firstelginbaptistchurch. Directly following the service, internment will be held at the New Elgin Cemetery.

If desired, donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association would be appreciated by the family.
