Helen Miller

Helen Miller

Surrounded by her loving family, Helen Elaine Miller passed away at the Moncton City Hospital on December 16th, 2023, at the age of 84.

Born in St. Stephen, NB, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Madelaine (Marshall) Vail.  Helen completed Teachers’ College in Fredericton, NB and then moved to Petitcodiac in the fall of 1959 to teach Home Economics at Petitcodiac Regional High School, from which she retired in 1994.

Helen was a member of the Petitcodiac Baptist Church, a lifetime member of a local women’s sorority group (Beta Sigma Phi). Helen was always going above and beyond to help wherever she could.

Helen had a zest for life and a sparkle in her eye. She loved to garden, loved to dance, loved to travel, loved to bake, and most of all loved to spend time with family and friends, usually over a cup of tea.

Helen will be deeply missed and is survived by her loving husband, travel companion and dance partner of 62 years, William (Bill). She will be greatly missed by daughter Wanda McMackin (Brent) of Petitcodiac, NB, son Roger Miller (Kyly) of Cambridge, ON and her stepdaughter Kim Lounsbury (Gary) of Petitcodiac, NB. Grammie Helen will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Ryan McMackin, Jillian McMackin (Seth), Leighton Miller and Garrett Miller; Nicholas Lounsbury and Lindsay Lounsbury and great-grandchildren Liam Lounsbury and Nixon Lounsbury. Helen will also be deeply missed by her brother Richard (Dick) Vail (Marilyn).  Helen will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, cherished friends and extended family.

Besides her parents, Helen is predeceased by her sister Francis Hanselpacker (Eugene).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (506-372-4800) where visitation will be held Wednesday, December 20 from 6PM to 8PM.  A funeral service will be held in the chapel Thursday, December 21 at 11AM. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery.
