Joyce Steeves
1937-2023
F. Joyce Steeves. March 30, 1937- December 5, 2023
Joyce Steeves of Moncton passed away with her four children by her side, and joined her beloved husband, Steadman, in heaven on December 5, 2023. Joyce was the daughter of the late Zenas and Dollie (Hicks) Steeves.
She will be deeply missed by her children Kevin (Merribeth), David, Belinda, and Andrew (Francine); her grandchildren Ashley (Tom), Jonathan (Nicole), Kathleen (Brennan), Austin, Cyndelle (Kate), Crandall, Victoria, Nicolas, Jacob, William, and Caleb; great-granddaughter Evelyn; and sisters Nita Steeves, Stella (Art) Quartermain, and Eva (late Earnest) Garnier; as well as many friends and family members. She was predeceased by her cherished husband of 61 years Steadman Steeves, and brothers Reilly, Raymond, Reid, and Allen Steeves.
Before starting her family, Joyce was a proud member of the Wages department at Eaton’s department store. She then dedicated many decades to raising her children, and partnering with her husband to manage their gift business.
Joyce was a talented, loving, honest, and intelligent woman. She was a jack of all trades who kept her family fed with delicious dinners and decadent desserts, and was the family’s go-to seamstress. She mended all ripped work pants, took in too large waist bands (for her army of skinny sons and grandsons), and was so talented as to make t-shirts for her sons and dresses for her daughter from scratch. Joyce created countless beautiful cross-stitch works of art to grace the walls of her home and the homes of her family. Her family will cherish all of the "Nanny Socks" she lovingly knitted over the years.
In lieu of flowers Joyce’s family asks for donations to be made to the Steeves Mountain Cemetery in her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800. A private interment was held at the Steeves Mountain Cemetery.
