Gwendolyn Keith
1931-2023

Gwendolyn (Gwennie) Mary Keith, 92, of Salisbury passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Moncton City Hospital. Gwennie was the daughter of the late Amy Black and chosen daughter of the late Paxton & Violet Black and wife of the late Harley Keith.
Gwennie and Harley were married in 1949 and lived in Havelock all their married life until retiring to Salisbury in 2005. They raised 5 children on their small farm and was actively involved on the farm churning butter, baking homemade bread, biscuits, making mincemeat, headcheese and baked goods. Grandchildren especially remember her hot cross buns.
Gwennie and Harley were always together. She attended plowing matches that Harley and the children participated in. After moving to Salisbury she joined the Seniors group and Geri-Fitness. She enjoyed playing Skip Bo and spent much of her spare time knitting, crocheting and sewing. All of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren had socks, mittens, hats, pillows and afghans made by her loving hands.
In later years, Gwennie had caregivers who helped her to remain in her own home. She enjoyed playing cards, going for drives, or out to lunch with her caregivers including long term caregivers, Bonnie and Donna.
Survived and sadly missed by children: Lucille Lepage (Bob) of Prince George, BC, Ada MacLeod (Evan) of Bathurst, Burton (Judy) Keith of Havelock and Barry (Cindy) Keith of Glenvale; her daughter in-law, Shirley Keith of Roachville; her 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; her sisters: Marie Keith, Alta Tait, Beatrice Scribner (Clifford), Clara Boyd (Ron); her brother in-law, Douglas Ross and sister in-law, Sandra Black and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased also by her son, Philip Keith; her son –in-law, Blair Sprague; her grandson, Timothy Sprague; her brothers, Wendell Black (Jeanette) and Reace Black; her sisters: Myrna MacLeod (Stuart), Velma Black (friend Betty Anderson) and Norma Ross.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800 from where visitation will be held on Friday, September 29th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 30th at 1:00pm with Rev. Bill Parks presiding. Interment will be held in the New Canaan Cemetery.
