Ella Northrup

Ella May (Halliday) Northrup, of Petitcodiac, passed away September 20, 2023 at the Moncton Hospital following a brief illness.

Born February 28, 1939 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia to John F. and Blanche (Falkner) Halliday, she moved to Lower Coverdale, NB in 1948. She attended the University of New Brunswick and earned a teaching degree and enjoyed several years of working with elementary students. She was instrumental in the success of the family automotive business. She and her husband, John D Northrup, began traveling in the 1980’s and she finally settled in Chapala, Mexico; where she resided for over 20 years. Although she and John were no longer married- they remained good friends. She returned to Petitcodiac in 2018 to be closer to her son, Steve.

Ellie, as she was known to family and friends, was preceded in death by her parents and her former spouse, John Douglas Northrup.

She is survived by her son Stephen (Steve) Douglas Northrup of Petitcodiac East, and his partner Nancy Blackadar; her brother Jim McWhinnie (Debbie) of Sarasota FL; and many nieces and nephews and their children, who will miss her immensely.
