Daniel Daley

1949-2023

Daniel Daley

It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Daniel Daley, 73, of Anagance on September 2, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Cancer.

He was lovingly known to all as (Gramps). He devoted his entire life to helping others including his many years volunteering at the The House of Nazereth. From there he opened his heart to a 10 year old child he lovingly adopted known as His Devoted Son Bill Marr. When Bill married in 2000 it was understood that his dad was along for the journey and his wife accepted reluctantly. Fast forward many years later he became much more than a father in law, he became Grampy in all ways. He gave a hand in the kitchen, babysitting or a referee to the many wrestling matches his boys (would get into) and he would never tell their parents they misbehaved. Always gave a glowing report...Dad seen the good in everyone....he watched first hand Bills sons grow into fine men and fathers to their own children, a dream he wished for and got. Dan loved shopping with the girls & his beloved daughter in law Tara...he would find energy from nowhere and disappear to shop his heart out. He enjoyed his Star Trek and Sci-Fi Shows and The Mentalist with his family in evenings. He also added much adored four legged Companions Kiwi & Rome (2021) & Athena presently still spoiled and can do no wrong. Dan looked forward to his many visits and outings with his daughters, sisters and brothers. He adored all of his grandchildren & great grandchildren long lost twin daughters he met late in life whom he proudly talked about at any chance. He even had the chance to fly out west after many years and spend two weeks with his long lost son Vernon. Dan never forgot about any of his family near or far...always sending a special gift to His son Daniel’s daughter in BC every Christmas. It’s easy to see Gramps devoted his entire life to his family. A proud Irishman is an understatement. He met another proud Irishmen Mike and his lovely wife whom extended their hospitality to Dad over the years. Proudly he wore a jacket brought back from his beloved Ireland from extended family of Sunshine House. More people Dan added to his list of people he considered family. GRAMPS will be lovingly remembered as An Opinionated Stubborn Irish Ass as his son Bill’s mother in law lovingly and in good fun would call him and joke, Dan loved a good debate on Politics. Let them have it up there Dad. You will be missed.

Daniel is survived and sadly missed by his sons, Bill Marr (Tara) of Anagance, Vernon of Alberta and Daniel Jr. of BC; daughters Julia (Jamie), Sybil (Mike) and Phoebe; brother Bob; sisters Gail, Ruth and Sharon and Many cherished grandchildren great grandchildren
