Matthew Steeves

1975-2023

Matthew Steeves

It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Matthew Robert Steeves, 48, of Riverview on July 11th, 2023 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was a son to the late Robert & Carolyn (McBride) Steeves.

Raised in Petitcodiac, he graduated from Petitcodiac Regional High School before attending NBCC in Saint John where he completed the Information Technology program. A keen and self-motivated worker, he built his career as a Computer Programmer where he was always proud of the work he delivered while making many lifelong friends along the way.

Sarcastic, intelligent, and witty, Matthew was always able to bring a smile to the face of anyone in the room. His selfless, optimistic mindset will be treasured and remembered by friends and family alike, as he has always been someone that can be relied upon for help or meaningful advice. He enjoyed getting outdoors for any activity, partaking in unique experiences -- skydiving, walking the opening of the Confederation Bridge, and hiking the Dobson trail -- whenever he could, reading novels and comics, and playing video games.

Matthew is survived and sadly missed by his sister, Jennifer Hyett (Rick); his nephew, Damian Hyett (Ashley); his great niece, Hailey Hyett; his aunt and uncle, Ken & Carolyn Steeves; cousins, Kent Steeves and Kevin Steeves; his god child, Max Holt; his extended family: Amanda, Krista and their children.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800, from where visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm & 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A Funeral service will be held Monday, July 17th at 11:00am with reception to follow. Interment will be held at a later date in Woodstock.

If desired, donations made to the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
