Carolyn R. Steeves

1950-2023

Carolyn R. Steeves

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the unexpected passing of Carolyn Ruth Steeves, 73, on July 5, 2023 at her home in Elgin, NB.

She and her husband married on August 26th, 1972 and settled in Elgin to raise their family whom she thought dearly of.

Carolyn was born and raised in Stoney Creek, attended Moncton High School and entered into the nursing program at the St. John General graduating as an RN in 1971. She worked in the St. John, Sussex and Moncton hospitals, and retired in 2008.

She and her husband moved to and settled in Elgin to raise their family. She enjoyed the rural life and loved working outdoors and tenting/camping.

She faithfully attended the First Elgin Baptist Church where she played the organ and piano. She enjoyed directing the choir and conducting the Living Christmas Tree for a number of years. She had a real passion for Gospel and Country music, and loved to attend and take part in Country music events in many different places.

Carolyn’s talents and hobbies were countless. She loved playing a number of musical instruments, singing, knitting, cross stitching, quilting, reading and being outside any chance she could. She was always busy at one project or another, perhaps even several at a time. She displayed more energy than should rightfully be given to any one individual. Her love for her family was woven into every task she did, from knit socks, to cozy quilts, and even spontaneous deliveries of baked goods. However, she would wish that her most important legacy that she would leave for her loved ones would be her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Carolyn is survived and dearly missed by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald Steeves; Her sons, Matthew Steeves (Sarah Scribner) of Elgin, Shane Steeves (Cassey Jones) of Moncton, Luke Steeves (Sherry Goggin) of Elgin and Adam Steeves (Ela Encinares) of Montreal; Her Grandchildren, Connor, Cody, Austin, Tiffany, Ethan, Makayla, Sophie, Ariana, Mayumi and Enola Reven; Brothers and Sisters, Russell Parker, Paul Parker (Barb), Timothy Parker (Jennifer) and Judi Parker. Carolyn was predeceased by her father Francis Parker, mother Audrey Parker Ayer, sister-in-law Brenda and sister-in-law Nancy.

Visitation will be at the Salisbury Funeral Home, July 9th, from 6pm-8pm. A service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held at First Elgin Baptist Church on Monday, July 10th at 1pm. Interment will be in New Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (506-372-4800).

If desired, donations in memory of Carolyn to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
