George O'Blenis

George Cleveland O'Blenis ,98, a lifelong resident of Boundary Creek passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family , Monday June 19, 2023.

Born in Salisbury West he was a son of the late Harry and Alberta Mae (Goddard) O'Blenis.

Early in his working life he worked construction including building of the Cabot Trail and the Gander Airport. Upon returning home in the 1950's he proudly opened one of the first White Rose Service Stations and in 1961 he built O'Blenis Auto Body which his sons continue to operate. Often found in the shop with a cigar in his mouth and a paint gun in hand he worked day and night and never really retired. He always boasted that his best worker was also the love of his life and partner for over 76 years. A lifelong dedication to the local Stock Car Sport earned him induction into the Maritime Motorsport Hall of Fame. George enjoyed hunting and operating heavy equipment.

Survived and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 76 years Ruth (Nelson), his children Allan (Brenda), Roy (Sharon), Faye Saurette (Denis), Nina Jones (Raymond) and Rae, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Florence, Ethel, Marjorie, Cora and Ida and brothers Hubert and Raymond.

 A graveside service for family and friends will be held Friday June 23 at 2 p.m. from the Boundary Creek Cemetery with Rev. Terry Atkinson officiating.

If desired memorials to the Boundary Creek Cemetery or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in the care of the Salisbury Funeral Home and Crematorium (372-4800).
