Laura Stiles

It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Laura L. Stiles, 69, in her hometown of Pollett River on June 5, 2023. Born in Petitcodiac on October 18, 1953, Laura was the youngest daughter of the late Eldon & Lydia Kay. She grew up with her sisters on the family homestead in Pollett River. After graduating high school, Laura and her husband, Dale Stiles, built a home of their own in the community and raised three children there.

Whip-smart, witty and hard working, Laura made her mark on the New Brunswick landscape as a silviculture contractor. She and her crews planted trees on thousands of hectares throughout the province’s south east.

She enjoyed and excelled at gardening and farming, raising prize-winning Nubian goats for many years. Laura had a gift for making work fun and was a natural teacher.

Laura is survived and sorely missed by her husband, Dale of Pollett River; her children: Amelia Stiles-McDougall (Jack), Randal (Charlene) and Wilson, all of Pollett River; her grandchildren: Ethan Stiles, Ava Sears, Sarah Bourgoin and Thomas McDougall; her sisters: Linda Prosser and Kathy MacLeod; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800. All arrangements at this time are being held privately. If desired, donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
