Richard Hopper

1966-2023

Richard Hopper

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Richard Roy Hopper, 56, on April 16th at his residence. Born in Moncton, he was a son to the late Roy & Peggy (Colpitts) Hopper.

He will be missed by his wife and love of his life, Yvonne; son, Tim (Jen Cooke); daughter, Shauna (Tim Geldart); brother, Lorne (Pam); sisters: Deborah Carter (Larry), Cheryl McCormick (Kevin) and Marlene Colpitts (Barry); mother-in-law, Geraldine Lane; brother-in-law, Terry (Lauren) as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard, known to his family as Rocket, worked at the Petitcodiac Golf and Country Club for over 25 years, 12 of those last years as the Superintendent. He was a hard worker and took great pride in everything he did, especially as the Superintendent. He did an amazing job and was always so proud of the course. He often referred to the course as his baby and loved every minute of being there.

Richard loved his family unconditionally and was an amazing husband, father, brother and a great friend to many. He was a kind and gentle man.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman, whether it be working in his vegetable garden, fishing, hunting or camping trips with his family, however, moose and deer season were two of his favorite times of year. He loved to cook and was very good at it.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800, from where visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20th  from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A private family interment will take place at the Nixon Cemetery.

If desired, donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
