Gertrude Pollock

  Gertrude Eileen (Mitton) Pollock, 99, of Elgin passed away January 23, 2023 at the Moncton Hospital.

  Born in Prosser Brook, she was a daughter of the late Hartley and Mary (Geldart) Mitton. Gertrude was a homemaker but in her early years she worked as a waitress in Sussex, as a cook at the Burlington Hotel in Petitcodiac and during wartime she worked as a cook in lumber camps. While living for many years in Mississauga, ON, she kept boarders, many from Elgin, Petitcodiac and Salisbury.

  She is survived by her children Dale Pollock (Barbara), Searsville, NB, Linda Humphreys (Robert) "Bob", Manitoba, Gary Pollock, Mississauga, ON and Randy Pollock, Elgin, NB; grandchildren Rebecca Pollock, Jeremy Pollock, Chris Pollock, Sean Humphreys, Meghan Humphreys, and Caitlin Pollock; great grandchildren Chevy Pollock, and Emma Mae and Mary Humphreys; sisters Shirley Vautour (Harvey) and Dorothy Tripp; brothers Gordon Mitton and Frank Mitton (Sharon) and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Guy Pollock (2006); brothers and sisters Verna Chambers, Georgie Ogden, Vaughn Mitton, Herman Mitton, Ralph Mitton, Russell Mitton, Lottie McCully and Laura Milton.

  Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372-4800) visiting will be Friday, January 27 from 7 - 9 pm and from where the funeral will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 2 pm with Pastor Paul Leger officiating. Interment at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
