Gerald Armstrong

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Gerald Glendon Armstrong, 77, of Petitcodiac and formerly Portage Vale at the Forest Dale Nursing Home on December 5^th.

Born in Wheaton Mills, he was a son to the late Sproule and Stella (Kaye) Armstrong. Gerald was a career lumberman working in various sawmills and retired from the Fawcett Lumber Co. as Dry Kiln Manager. Gerald enjoyed everything outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and his woodlot.

Gerald is survived and sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Dunfield) Armstrong; his daughter, Judy Lounsbury (late Allen) of Petitcodiac; his son, Jefferey Armstrong (Deb) of Red Deer, Alberta; his Grandaughter, Jessica of Marathon, ON; his sisters: Phyllis Levy of Petitcodiac, Eva Boujould of Ottawa, ON, Kate Armstrong of Belleisle and brother, Larry Armstrong of Elliot Lake, ON; his mother in law, Verna Dunfield (late George) of Portage Vale; brothers in law Rick Dunfield (Ellen) of Petitcodiac and Len Dunfield (Dawn) of Portage Vale and his sister in law Val Farrel (late Edward) of Petitcodiac as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his grandson, Joshua and sister, Marie Dean.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Marie-eve Blanchard, Dr. Richard Morton of the Health Center and the staff at The Forest Dale Nursing Home, Riverside Albert for his continual care.

Family and friends are invited to Armstrong’s Funeral Home Chapel, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac (756-3361), for visitation on Friday, December 9^th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm with a graveside interment to follow at the Baptist Church Cemetery in Portage Vale.

If desired, donations made to the Portage Vale Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
