Peggy Hopper

1928-2022

Peggy Hopper

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Peggy Jean Hopper, 93 at the Grass Home on September 9th, 2022. Formerly of Colpitts Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Lorne and Clara Colpitts.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Deborah (Larry) Carter, Cheryl (Kevin) McCormick and Marlene (Barry) Colpitts; her sons, Lorne (Pam) and Richard (Yvonne) Hopper; her seven grandchildren: Kevin, Christa, Jordi, Michael, Kelli, Tim and Shauna; six great grandchildren: Erica, Emily, Jaxen, Declan, Violet and Elia; one great-great grandchild, Caleb; her sisters in law: Nita, Diane, Eleanor and Donna as well as several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy; brothers: Cecil, Douglas, Kenneth, Weldon, Lorne and Roy; her sisters: Margaret, Inez and Pauline.

Mom was a home maker and worked hard all her life raising her family. Times were not easy when she was a young mother. She enjoyed her time as a T.O.P.S member and made many good friends. Peggy loved working on puzzles and knitting. She would cook a big pot of soup and have the girls up for supper for evenings of music and singing.

Peggy loved her family more than anything in the world. She loved having a full house, especially on Christmas Eve and birthdays. She was always so interested in all the kids, their activities and what they were doing. Her face would light up with every picture and video we shared with her. She was always in awe how we could do all that with an iPhone.

Mom loved all animals and was heartbroken when her little dog Pepper, companion of 14 years, passed away. She was loved beyond and will leave a huge void in our family.

The family wishes to thank the Grass Nursing Home and all the amazing, wonderful girls for all the exceptional care they gave our mom, their Peggy Sue.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Salisbury Funeral Home from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held following the visitation at 3:00pm with Pastor Rodney Blythe officiating. Interment will follow in the Nixon Cemetery.

If desired, donations made to the Cornerstone Community Church or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
