Gordon Bannister passed away peacefully on Sunday January 23, 2022 at the Kenneth E Spencer Memorial Home. Gordie was born April 13, 1946, the only child of Arnold and Eva (Weir) Bannister.

Gordon lived most of his life on the farm in Prosser Brook, a place that allowed him a much-loved horse and the joy of seeing frequent visitors. He was a great help to his mother in the kitchen and  his father on the land.

He was a man of simple pleasures: a very sweet Tims coffee, a bag of sugar-free candy, an ice cream now and then and anything to do with horses.

Sadly, when his parents moved to the Jordan, Gordie was unable to be with them. He lived many years at the Silver Fox in Salisbury, spent an extended period in Moncton Hospital and ended his journey at Spencer's.

Gordie's wonderful friend, Alan, would take him to visit his parents quite often; Gordie counted down the days to these special outings. His mother until her passing phoned Gordie every day at 9pm; he awaited this daily highlight a little impatiently watching the time on "Dad's watch".

In addition to his parents, Gordie was predeceased by many aunts, uncles and cousins and his friend Alan Trites.

Gordie was a kind and gentle man. He will be missed.

Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800). Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in the spring, and will be announced.

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God".
