Lester Addie

Lester Addie

A graveside service will be held at the River Glade Community Cemetery on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 3 pm with Rev. Chris Hayes officiating. A visitation will follow at Salisbury Funeral Home from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.

Captain Lester Addie was cleared for Takeoff on January 13, 2022, at the age of 83.

The son of Leslie and Alice (Colpitts) Addie, he was always passionate about flying. As a boy, Lester collected cans from the ditches around Riverglade, New Brunswick to pay for flight lessons.

He graduated from Salisbury High School near the top of his class, beat out only by the love of his life, Bernice (Cochran). He has put her 1st ever since—they were married for 55 wonderful years.

Over the years, Lester would fly as captain for a number of airlines, ferry bombers overseas and joy ride in his own T33, just for the fun.

In addition to his exceptional career in the Airline industry, he graduated from electrical engineering  at UNB (1963), and built a successful engineering firm in Moncton that designed hospitals and schools across the province.

He was predeceased by his brother Robert.

He was an incredibly loving and patient father to Brian (wife Sarah) and Vicky, grampy to Noah and Ella, and grand-dog-dad to Barkley and Bruce.

And oh yeah, he was a good tipper.

No one saw the value in a good muffin quite like Dad. He taught us to find joy in the simple things while living life to the full.

He taught us the satisfaction of a hard day’s work, while leaving us wanting for nothing.

He taught us to be generous and kind.

He will be dearly missed by his family but we couldn’t be happier for him knowing where his next adventure will take him. Well done. (Matt. 25:23)

There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800), and a private graveside service will take place in the spring.

If desired, memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Society, the SPCA, the Riverglade Community Cemetery or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
