Irene Lounsbury

1931-2021

Irene Lounsbury

Irene Louise Lounsbury, 89 of Canterbury Hall and formerly of Petitcodiac passed away peacefully just four days shy of her 90th birthday on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

Born in Wheaton Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Viola (Branscombe) McMackin. Irene was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Wife, never missing a sporting event or chance to help her family. She was the best cook and loved gathering her family for her special home cooked meals. Her and her late husband Bud spent many years sitting in cold arenas watching hockey, going on bus tours, gardening and volunteering at their church.

Irene was a former employee of the T. Eaton Company and retired from the laundry department at the Jordan Memorial Home. She was a faithful Christian and member of the First North River Baptist Church all of her life. She was on various committees over the years, as well as part of the Petitcodiac Seniors.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her son Allan; grandchildren Alison (Jesse) and Cory (Brooklyn), their mother Tanya, her brothers and sisters in law, and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband Elwyn (Bud); sister Blanche Alward (Nison), brothers Bliss and Edwin McMackin and several brothers and sisters in law.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family service was held Sunday, October 31. Interment at First North River Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of the Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800).

The family would like to thank Sherry and Grant Seely, Silver Fox Special Care Home and Canterbury Hall for all the care and kindness shown to Irene in her final years.

If desired, memorials to the First North River Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
