Irene Geldart

1931-2021

Irene Geldart Irene Geldart

Irene left her home for the first time at age 16. She moved to her heavenly home on September 16, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Irene was the firstborn of Arthur and Ida MacWilliam of Salisbury, N.B. She graduated from Salisbury Regional School. Being too young to immediately go to Nursing School, she first attended a Home Economics program in Sussex.  Her nursing career began at the Annex on Collishaw St, Moncton and finished at the Jordan Lifecare Centre in The Glades.

She married the love of her life, Fred Roy Geldart, on September 26, 1953. They made many happy memories raising their family, camping and travelling.  She liked to knit and crochet. She loved watching her afternoon "stories", singing in the choir, listening to music, Gaither Friday nights, and Joyce Meyer in the morning.

She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Ida MacWilliam, her infant daughter Edith Mae, her husband Fred and her brother David MacWilliam.

She was a member of the Salisbury Baptist Church, the Red Hatters Society, and the Salisbury Seniors Club.

She will be sadly missed by her four children and their families: Kathy Murray (Brian) of Salisbury, Roy Geldart (Janet) of Riverview, Tim Geldart (Deb) of Salisbury, and Neil Rodney Geldart (Wendee) of Kentville N.S.; her brother John MacWilliam of Ottawa, Ont., sister Deborah Lewis (Gerard), and sister-in-law Gloria MacWilliam; her grandchildren Josh (Julie), Miranda (Curtis), Dawn (Alex), Kimber, Nick, Emily (Mick), Jessica (William), Martha (James), Jason, Benjamen, Keith; her great-grandchildren Skyler, Cooper, Winnie, Theo, Jackie, Malcolm, Finn, Fiadh, Sierra, Nyah, Hazen and Lincoln.  She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, her very special neighbours, friends, and her church family.

The family would like to thank all Health Care Professionals, and First Responders who were instrumental in her final years, both at home and in hospital.

Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372-4800) visiting will be Saturday, September 18 from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held from the Salisbury Baptist Church on Sunday, September 19 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Peter Sherwood officiating. Interment to follow at Nixon Cemetery.

In memory of Irene, donations would be appreciated for the Salisbury Baptist Church Building Fund, or a charity of your choice.

Masks are required at the funeral home and church.
