Doris Mary Constantine, 95, formerly of Monteagle, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Villa du Repos.
Born in Notre Dame, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Cormier) Cassie. Doris was a cook having worked at several local restaurants, retiring from the Jordan Memorial as a licenced cook. She loved to have the family in every Sunday for supper. Her and Paul would take the grandchildren camping on the weekends and the children would come home with lots of great stories. She also loved her flower and vegetable gardens and making pickles. Doris took great pride in her Lifetime Membership of the Second North River Womens Institute. She joined in 1956 and served as president, vice-president, director and various other positions. She was active in her church and ready to help at all times.
Doris will be sadly missed by her sons Edwin (Linda), Salisbury, Ray (Pauline), Monteagle, Brian (Kathy), Monteagle and Eugene (Rose), Berryton; daughter Diane Steeves (Denis), Harewood; sister Eveline Jaillet (Normand), Grand Digue; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Paul; sons Norman and Walter; granddaughter Tracey Steeves and great granddaughter Josie McLean; son-in-law Terry Steeves; sisters Edna Goguen, Yvonne Bourgeois, Aline Gautreau and Floria Caissie.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372-4800) visiting will take place Monday, August 23 from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held Tuesday, August 24, 11 am at St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church. Although not mandatory, wearing a mask is encouraged in indoor public spaces. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
