Richard  Smith

Richard Leslie Smith ,89, of the Veteran's Health Center Moncton and formerly Salisbury and Oromocto passed away Tuesday July 14, 2015 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton he was the son of Vina Smith and was raised by his grandparents Harry and Isobel Smith. Richard was a Veteran of the Second World War having served in Continental Europe with the North Shore Regiment and was wounded in Belgium. A member of Branch 6 he was a faithful member of the Royal Canadian Legion wherever he lived and and recently received his 50 year membership award. He retired from the trucking industry after a long career. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, bluegrass music and his canine companions.

   He was predeceased by his mother, grandparents, his two wives, Olive L (Amos) , the mother of his children and Ida Peach (Chappell) and only daughter AnnaBelle Cusack. Survived and sadly missed by his sons Howard A. (Debby) and their children Carla LeBlanc (Derrick) and Andrew (Michelle); Richard (Rick) Jr. (Ruth) and their children  Christopher (Amanda) and Jocelyn (Travis) and AnnaBelle's daughter Meaghan and by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are Ida's children and their families.   

   A tribute to a Veteran Service will be held Friday July 17 at 10:45 am  at the Salisbury Funeral Home Chapel followed by the funeral at 11 am, Pastor Paul Pattison officiating with a reception to follow. Interment will be at the Burton Cemetery.

   If desired memorials to the Canadian Cancer  Society , the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Glad Tidings Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.

The family wish to thank the staff of the Veteran's Health Center for the wonderful care and love their father received and staff of 4600 at the Moncton Hospital.
