Barbara Gaskin

1928-2015

Barbara Gaskin

It is with mixed emotion that we announce the passing of Barbara Constance Gaskin, 86, on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 of ProTem Special Care Home.  Sadness for loved ones left behind and happiness for her, as Barb was taken into Glory by her Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15

Barbara was born in Sussex, NB, the youngest child of Burpee and Ina (Eldridge) Bates. Her family moved to Moncton when she was six years old, and Barbara spent the rest of her life in this area, most of it in Gunningsville (now Riverview) and more recently in Upper Coverdale. Barb was a gentle soul with a ready smile and kind word for all. She had a lovely voice, and always enjoyed music and singing. Over the years she also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, bird watching, and swimming at the YMCA.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of sixty-seven years, Norman Rogers Gaskin, her daughter Ruth Sharon Wheatley, Ruth's husband George Wheatley, all of Upper Coverdale. Barb will also be missed by special friends Stephen and Cheryl Epley of Red Bluff, California. She is predeceased by several brothers and one sister.

In keeping with Barb's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family service will take place at the Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) who are in care of the arrangements. Interment will take place at the Wesleyan Union Cemetery in the spring.

If desired, donations in Barb's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Friends of the Moncton Hospital.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Paulette and Chris Wallace of ProTem Health Services and their dedicated staff for the kindness shown and the excellent care provided for Barb during the past three years she has resided with them.
