Leota McConnell

Leota Joan McConnell, born March 7, 1940 in Steeves Settlement, NB, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, ON.

Cherished wife of Clelland McConnell. Daughter of the late Alfonso and Violet (nee Killam) Steeves. Survived by her sisters Marilyn (Gerald) Steeves, Doreen (Donald) Ogilvie, Constance (Walter) Alward, and Beverly (Donald) Harper; brothers Graham (special friend Katherine), Philip (Lynn), Ronald (Hazel), Deverne (Dorine) and Lynton; brother-in-law Jim (Freda) McConnell and sister-in-law Dorothy McConnell, as well as 30 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Judy Steeves. Leota Retired from Midas Canada after 28 years.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cruises and bicycling. Her joy of life and strength of faith was very inspirational especially during the ten years of her illness. She received wonderful care from Dr. Chouinard and his team and from the doctors and nurses at Cambridge Memorial Hospital during her last few weeks.

At Leota’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Leota’s life was held at Cedar Creek Community Church, 2042 Dumfries Rd, Cambridge, ON, on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 11a.m., with the family receiving friends one hour prior. 

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Cedar Creek Community Church, ON.
