Alan R. Hicks

 

Hicks: Alan Ralph, 77, of Riverview passed away Monday July 30, 2012 at the Moncton Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Havelock he was a son of the late Donald and Irene (Atkinson) Hicks. Alan graduated from the former Havelock High School, he retired from the Department of Manpower as a student placement officer at the NBCC in Moncton. He enjoyed woodworking, building ship models and reading. For many years his passion was flying planes he built and was a longtime member and past president of the Havelock Flying Club.

Survived and sadly missed by his wife Joan (McLaughlin); daughter Judith Hicks of Riverview; his brothers Ronald (Ruby) and Brian (Jennifer) of Havelock; step children Janice Cain of Vancouver and Robert Cain (Cynthia) of Riverview and a step grandaughter Sarah Henwood (Greg) of Halifax and by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his first wife Margaret (Coates) and a daughter Sheila.

The family will receive guests at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and from where the funeral will be held in the chapel on Thursday August 2 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brent Ham officiating. Interment at Greenhill Cemetery, Havelock.
