Harvey Dryden

2018-2021

Harvey Dryden

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our precious boy, Harvey Norman Dryden on March 24, 2021 at the age of three with his parents at his side. Harvey was the beloved son of Matthew Arnold and Margaret Suzanne (MacDougall) Dryden and brother of Felix Mooney Dryden.

Harvey could not talk to us but he told us with the look on his face what he loved in life. Harvey loved the outdoors. He would relax on walks in his stroller and wheelchair, looking in the direction of sound and softening as he felt the air on his face. Harvey loved to swim and would flutter and kick his legs in the water. Harvey loved looking at Christmas lights, especially on the Christmas tree. Harvey’s look was often bright, sometimes relaxed, with these simple pleasures. Harvey loved people. He loved cuddles, head rubs, stories, singing, and music. These things soothed him. Harvey loved his brother Felix. Harvey’s face was bright and his eyes wide open on the day Felix was born. Harvey gave a rare smile when the brothers were laid down next to each other. Harvey would also reach out to his brother.

Harvey taught us so much. He taught us to take pause and appreciate the simple things. He taught us to appreciate milestones and in his case inchstones. He taught us about unconditional love and how to love each other. He taught us to be present and not to take moments for granted.

In addition to his loving parents and brother, Harvey is survived by his maternal grandparents Dr. Frances MacDougall and Jack MacDougall; paternal grandparents Norman and Shanna Dryden; great grandmother Faye Dryden (Arnold, deceased); aunts Kristin Dryden, Kathleen Jacobs (Ben), and Erin Avery (Pat); uncles Allan MacDougall (Chelsea), and Phillip Eastman (Stephanie); cousins Brooklyn, Oscar, Franklin, Zachary, and Owen; and great aunt Kathleen McCullough (Lowell). Harvey was predeceased by his great grandfather Arnold Dryden; great grandparents Dr. Joseph and Kathleen MacDougall, and Patrick and Margaret Kearney.
