   Elsie Louise Steeves, 74, of Elgin, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Ferndale, Elgin, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Garland and Christina Steeves (Bannister).

   Elsie enjoyed many hobbies including freelance writing for several newspapers, reporting activities from her community, washer toss, Mexican train dominoes with her friends Sandra, Ruth, Shirley and Kelly. She especially enjoyed cribbage, hosting special crib night with Bob and Didi. In 1966 she joined the Elgin Women’s Institute where she enjoyed being secretary and serving on many committees. Elsie loved animals, including her feline companion, Boots, and invited many "furbabies" into her home.

   Her family was most important to her, especially her grandchildren, Zachery and Dyllan Collier and Destiny Steeves (Roland Graves). She will be sadly missed by her children, James Steeves, Donna (Terry), Mary Lynne (Mike), and Douglas (Chrys); brothers, Edward (Elaine), Gerald (Mary), Richard (Marilyn), Austin, Robert (Kim), Ralph (Brenda); sisters, Anna Linkletter, Eileen, Aleta Sabean, Wanda (Donnie) Steeves; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Steeves; brothers, Curtis, David James, and Ronald; brothers-in-law, Don Linkletter, James Sabean and Garry Steeves.

   Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family visiting will be held at The Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800). A link to watch the livestream service commencing at 1 pm, will appear on the funeral home website on Monday, November 30, 2020. Interment will be in the New Elgin Cemetery.

   If desired, memorials to the Elgin Women’s Institute Building Fund or the Elgin Fire Department would be appreciated.
